What is Instructional Design?

Instructional Design is the art and science of creating powerful and effective learning experiences. At BLS, we practice this discipline by applying principles of educational psychology, adult learning theory, and neuroscience to develop unique and impactful training products that meet each client’s needs.

Our Process

Analyze

We spend time getting to know you and the needs of your company. We determine where this training needs to be directed in order to solve your pain points, and work with you to ensure that we understand your difficulties as well as you do.

Design

Using the information we gather, we construct the framework for a tailor-made training solution. With your help, we align objectives and strategies with your goals.

Develop

Once we have a framework, we build out the different components to create all the necessary resources you will need for training (i.e. videos, courses, curricula, etc.). Our cross-functional staff develop media in-house, keeping the integrity of the design and desired learning outcomes.

Implement

When the learning product is complete, we can help you prepare the learning space or engage participants – whether that means providing trained facilitators, providing technical support for e-learning deployment via your Learning Management System, or distributing copies of videos.

Evaluate

We are constantly evaluating what works, what doesn’t, and how we can improve the quality of learning. Our training products come with evaluation tools like pre/post-tests, follow-up surveys, and other tools to help you evaluate the effectiveness of your training endeavor so we can ensure you continuously improve.

Consult/Maintain

We are invested in helping you reach your goals, so throughout the instructional design training process we advise and consult so that project-specific decisions are made in concert with your big-picture human performance objectives.
